Democrat Cassie Chambers Armstrong wins Kentucky Senate District 19 special election
Democrat Cassie Chambers Armstrong has won the special election to fill Kentucky's vacant senate seat.

The special election was held to fill the vacant state senate seat in Louisville's District 19.
The District 19 seat became vacant after Morgan McGarvey left to represent Kentucky's 3rd Congressional District. He held the seat from 2012-2022.
Democrat Cassie Chambers Armstrong will finish out the rest of McGarvey’s term, which expires in 2024.
District 19 represents a multitude of neighborhoods across Jefferson County.
The district stretches from neighborhoods near the fairgrounds like Audubon Park, Germantown, Schnitzelburg into Cherokee, Highlands right up to the St. Matthews area. It then reaches southeast into parts of Buechel, Fern Creek, Highview and a sliver that runs along the Gene Snyder close to Okolona.

Armstrong was formerly on the Louisville Metro Council, representing District 8, which covers the majority of the Highlands and surrounding neighborhoods.
